Shruthi: My favourite kind of souvenirs are the (daily) ones that fit into my Maya.

DID YOU KNOW? SHRUTI HAASAN USED FAKE NAME IN SCHOOL TO AVOID BEING ASSOCIATED WITH HER SUPERSTAR FATHER KAMAL HAASAN

Shruti Haasan has come out of her superstar father, Kamal Haasan’s shadow and is now a renowned Indian actress. The 33-year-old beauty like her father has many talents. Not only has she acted in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu movies, Shruti is also an award-winning singer. Apart from singing, Haasan also has penned lyrics, composed music and has been a lead vocalist of a rock band. While the actress is comfortable with limelight there was a time when she tried hard to hide her identity.

Shruti Haasan did her schooling from Abacus Montessary School and apparently during her school days the actress called herself Pooja Ramachandran. Sarika and Kamal Haasan’s daughter did not want to be treated any differently because she was a popular celebrity’s daughter and hence decided to rechristen herself and dropped her famous surname. Interestingly, Shruti started her acting and singing career very early on. The actress made an appearance in Kamal Haasan’s bilingual film Hey Ram, where she played Sardar Vallabhai Patel’s daughter. The actress was also fortunate to have bagged her debut as a singer with music maestro Ilaiyaraaja in her dad’s film Thevar Magan when she was barely six years old.

Amongst the many other things, Shruti has also studied psychology from Mumbai’s St Andrew’s College. That’s not all, the actress can speak as many as eight languages. Shruti marked her debut in Bollywood opposite Aamir Khan’s nephew Imran Khan in Luck. While the movie bombed, the actress continued to get work in the business and gradually succeeded. Shruti has been extremely choosy about her work off late and her next Bollywood release will be Yaara opposite Vidyut Jamwal.
On personal front, the actress has been linked to several Tollywood hunks. It was rumoured that before marrying Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Naga Chaitanya was in a relationship with Shruti. The duo continue to remain good friends and never really confirmed their affair. In fact, it was quite scandalous when Shruti apparently moved in with her alleged boyfriend Siddharth way back in 2011 soon after they worked together in a movie titled, Oh My Friend. Haasan was also supposed to be dating Rajinikanth’s son-in-law Dhanush.
When Ranbir Kapoor split from his longtime girlfriend Katrina Kaif, the actor was linked to Kamal Haasan’s daughter. It was said that sparks flew as the two good looking stars shot for an advertisement. Shruti however, rubbished all reports of linkup with Ranbir and said, “I am very busy with my work and have nothing to say because these rumours don't affect me anymore.”

The actress is currently in a relationship with a London based theatre artist, Michael Corsale. The couple is often seen shuttling between India and UK. Will the couple get hitched anytime soon? Well, Shruti is in a happy space, but has not confirmed marriage rumours yet. In an interview, when quizzed about Corsale Shruti had said, “I don't talk about my personal life because it's very precious to me. All of us who have had a partner know that those people are the pillar of support in your life and I don't want to share that with everybody. It's just not something I feel comfortable talking about.”

We don’t want to comment about marriage, but hope that the actress continues to work – act, sing and entertain. Wishing the gorgeous Shruti Haasan a very happy birthday and a beautiful year ahead!
